Backpacking suggested eating
Breakfast
Hot - Instant (packs) oatmeal, cream of wheat, or
grits. Add granola or fruit bits
Cold - Cereal (something hard like granola) w/ powdered
milk, orange slices, granola bars, pop tarts, breakfast
bars
Powdered juice mixes (like crystal light)
Instant coffee, tea, and/or hot chocolate (remember sugar
and powdered creamer)
Lunch
P & J (in squeeze tubes) or hard salami & cheese
on tortillas, pita bread, or bagels; nuts (pistachios, almonds,
or soy nuts), fruit or dried fruit (like raisins, apricots,
or apples); granola bars or gorp (good old raisins &
peanuts plus granola, m& ms, and/or whatever else you
want to throw in); beef jerky; pretzels and other non-crushable
chips; animal crackers; chocolate bars; cookies; powdered
drink mixes
Dinner
Appetizers - cup-of-soups, cheese & crackers,
ramen noodles, cheese melted on tortillas with dehydrated
salsa, dehydrated humus with pita bread
Main Meal - any pre-packaged dehydrated meal, mac
& cheese, beans & rice packets on tortillas w/ cheese,
instant chili (dehydrated) over rice, rice-a-roni w/ a small
can of chicken or tuna, pasta dishes with powdered sauces
Dessert - cookies, chocolate bars, instant puddings
or cheesecake (will need powdered milk)
Instant coffee, tea, and/or hot chocolate (remember sugar
and powdered creamer)
